Seasick Steve @ 229 The Venue

 photo IMG_2661.jpg

There's no secret that I love going to gigs, and I go to as many as my economy allows me to. Last night, it was Seasick Steve. I've seen him play once before at The Roundhouse with his incredible swedish drummer Dan Magnusson, and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones on bass. Probably the best three piece I have ever seen! About a week ago, he announced on facebook that he would do a show at 229 The Venue with only 100 tickets, and the only way to get your hands on a pair would be to enter a ticket raffle, and just crossed your fingers that you would get picket. My boyfriend was one of few chosen lucky ones, and managed to get us two tickets for the show!

Together with his drummer they played through the songs from his upcomming album "Sonic Soul Surfer" that will be out in 2015, and I tell you – the album is brilliant! Steve played on everything from a one string washboard, to some four string part of a car engine, and a home made drift wood guitar. In between songs he would tell us stories from his life, and how he after all these years is now finally living his dream. He comes across as the nicest man in music, and took the time to shake hands with people in the audience, saying how he wouldn’t be able to do what he does without his fans.

As said in my previous post, yet another incredible Datsuns gig! This time at one of my favourite venues in London, The Lexington. Such talented, cool, and friendly guys. Hopefully I they'll stop by the UK again sometime soon.

We had a Halloween party last night, and I ended up going as Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction. A black wig, my boyfriends shirt, fake blood and icing sugar up my nose,  and voila!

About two months ago The Datsuns announced a UK tour, and I could barely take the excitement! I got tickets to see them at The Lexington, which is a great little venue in North London. After a bit of a think, I realised that seeing them once just wouldn’t be enough, so my boyfriend and I got tickets to see them in York as well. And I’m so glad we did! The venue couldn’t have been better, and their set list was absolutely brilliant. After the gig I snuck in backstage, and by snuck in I mean walked across the stage and let myself in backstage, hah. It is kind of odd though, when you meet one of your favourite bands and realise they are just really nice and friendly normal people, but with the coolest jobs in the world. Ended up staying there for at least an hour, chatting about everything from music to halloween costumes. It was a really good night, followed by a five hour long journy to get back to London the next day, which was less great, hah.

Disposables from when I saw Robert Plant at the iTunes festival on the 8th of September. I've been lucky enough to see him twice, first time in 2007 or 2008 with Alison Krauss. He's an absolutely amazing performer, and a living legend.

Throwback to some day in September, walking around central London with my boyfriend in matching boots and skinny jeans. My Dr Martens lifetime boots are probably one of my best buys ever - just the fact that they've got a lifetime guarantee is amazing! If I wear them out, they'll repair them or replace them, how good is that?! A bit pricier than a normal pair, but well worth every penny. They'll keep me comfortable and cool until I'm eighty.

We had some lovely and warm days in the beginning of October but summer's defintitely over now, and I'll be wearing about a million layers for the next five months. Here in my Levi’s shirt and denim jacket, scarf from Zara, second hand sheepskin coat, topshop Jamie jeans, and Dr Martens boots. Oh, and my lover on the left.

A few pictures I took with a disposable camera when I went to see Sweden's finest garage rockers The Hives in August. The quality is anything but great, but I love the rough and raw vibe. Later this month it's The Datsuns x 2, before Motöhead and The Damned in November, followed by Mark Lanegan in January - woop woop!

Scrolling through my iphoto library, I came across this picture, taken two years ago. At the time I was working at Monki in Carnaby Street, and one of my colleagues were going to New York for a couple of months. Despite the fact that we were all insanely jealous, we went out for leaving drinks in Soho before we said our goodbyes - sigh. Anyway, change of subject; I'm getting some serious hair envy looking at my 2012 self, long auburn hair, compared to my current blonde messy bob or whatever I can call it. I guess you always want what you can't get, so I'll stick with what I've got. For now..
