I'M GONNA BURN THIS CITY DOWN

 photo Ratrace.jpg

If you scroll through my blog, it's quite obvious that I'm a huge fan of Brody Dalle. I've seen her twice this year, but that's far from enough. Hopefully she'll keep touring the UK next year so I can see her again. And again. This song, "Rat Race", is from her new solo album Diploid Love, and it's one of my favourites on the album. I don't know how many times I've been singing along to this as loud as humanly possible while being home alone, but I guess the upstairs neighbours would know - oups. The music video for it is really cool as well, so simple - but so good!

SOUTHBANK WONDERGROUND

 photo Untitled-2.gif

When I was seven, my dad took me to Disneyland. What he didn't know, was that I'm a big ol' baby when it comes to stuff like rides and carousels, and I refused to go on most on them - what an ungrateful child, hah. Fifteen years later, a few of my friends managed to trick me up into the hellish invention pictured above,  and I've got a vague memory of seeing ALL of London from above, while crying and screaming. But for some reason, I'm concidering to give it another try. I don't know if it's because I'm older or braver, or older and dumber, with a mid-life crisis. Writing this and thinking about it makes me feel sick to my stomach, so I probaly wont do it. I might just have a cup of tea instead.

WOLFMOTHER - NEW CROWN

 photo Image-1-2.jpg

Ever since their debut album "Wolfmother" came out in 2005, I've been a huge fan of, you guessed it - Wolfmother. Over the last couple of days I've been streaming their newest album "New Crown" online, and it's absolutely, fucking, bloody brilliant. SO good! Turn up your speakers, and have a listen here. Enjoy.

THE HIVES @ BRIXTON ACADEMY

 photo IMG_1111.jpg

A couple of months ago, as the great girlfriend I am, I got tickets for my darling and me to see The Hives at Brixton Academy, and yesterday was the big day. We got there about half an hour before it started, and ended up queing at the bar for what felt like forever, where I managed to get my gin & tonic in a double pint glass so I wouldn't spill it. Why don't all bars have gigantic glasses? No more sticky floors. Anyway - Half past nine was showtime, and they absolutely blew my mind! My expectations were quite high, but they still managed to top them. Front men like Howlin' Pelle doesn't grow on trees, and he's by far one of the best ones I've ever seen. He even managed to get the entire crowd to sit down! Sneaky as I am, I was stod at the front where I somehow managed to rub the guitarist Nicholaus Arson's hair, and shake hands with Pelle. I left the venue happy, covered in beer, and sweaty to the bone. Just how I like it.

Pulp Fiction in the pouring rain outside of Battersea Power Station last night. Norwegian as I am I brought proper rain clothes, but not even that could protect me from the heavy rain. Because of the weather I only managed to snap a few pictures before I had to put my camera away.

"But what does it mean?"

In early 2010, I got my first tattoo. After that I've gotten four more. One question I keep being asked, is "what do they mean?" Do they have to mean anything? One of the artists who did one of them, said nothing pissed him off more than people not being able to get tattoos without it having some deep, personal meaning. Surely that's nice and all, but when push comes to shove, it's just art. It doesn't have to mean anything. When I'm eighty I'll look down at my wrinkly, old arms, and remember living in Camden in my early twenties, getting shit loads of tattoos, and they'll probably remind me of all the fun I had, all the people I met, all the gigs I went to, and how I was young, carefree and free as a bird - but for now there just here for decorations. I've never disliked my stick thin arms, but I like them oh-so much more now that I've inked them up them a bit.

Some guy I used to work to referred to my hand tattoo as a "job stopper", but then his dream is to work in a church and preach the good ol' lords word, (eek!), and, let's just say that's not really my thing. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that religion is probably the ONLY reason for war, and that we should ban the hole thing. But enough about that, where was I?

You fill your homes with beautiful objects to make them prettier and more you, that's what I do with tattoos. Obviously you'll have to think a tattoo more through than buying some new cushions for your sofa, if you get sick of brightly coloured orange cushions, you can just by new covers. You can't really do that with tattoos.. But if you're out there, trying to man up to get a tatto or not, I'd steal Nike's slogan and say just do it. Obviously think it thoroughly through first, and whatever you do, don't get a boyfriend or girlfriend's name, just, dont.. Besides that, go for it. Customize yourself.
