MY UPCOMMING GIGS

 photo Gigs.jpg
All pictures taken by me.

After moving to London more than three years ago, I’ve spent an unknown amount of time and money on music and concerts. Money very well spent, if you ask me. I’ve got quite a few good ones lined up for the next couple of months, and knowing myself right I’ll add some more to my calendar fairly soon. Great for me, not so great for my bank account. Anyway - ages ago someone asked me if I could write about concerts worth going to in London, so I thought I'd share my plans with you!

16.05.2015 Psyence @ Scala - I might miss out on this one as I'll probably go to Brighton for The Great Escape festival with Spindle Magazine, but DEFINITELY worth going to!

04.06.2015 Psyence @ Surya

17.06.2015 Eagles of Death Metal @ KOKO - I've been waiting for this one for ten years!
08.08.2015 Bad Religion @ Kentish Town Forum - Childhood heroes.

26.06.2015 Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats @ Scala - So good the first time I saw them that I'm comming back for more.

TRIGGERFINGER @ GARAGE

Having missed out on Triggerfinger last December in London, I was over the moon with excitement when I saw they were playing my favourite venue Garage in my hometown Bergen, on a weekend I'd already booked a ticket to go home. Faith you say? Obviously.

After a few whiskey sours at home, we arrived just in time for the last song of support band Shaman Elephant, which I’m gutted to have missed out on as they sounded great. I couldn’t find any of their songs online, but I’ll keep my eyes peeled and follow them on facebook for future updates.

A few pints later (Yes – I’VE LEARNED TO LIKE BEER!!) It was showtime. I’m pretty sure silver fox frontman Ruben Block is the reason groupies got invented, as even my straight bearded friend took a fancy to him.

Their set was absolutely spot on, with songs like ”Camaro”,”All this dancin’ around”, ”Is it”, and ”First taste”, and I wish the gig never would have ended. Ruben Block took the lead and did most of the talking, while their eccentric drummer Mario Goossens was licking his drums with excitement and bassist Paul Van Bruystegem kept cool and quiet as bassists tend to do. Fingers crossed they’ll be back on the road soon, as I can’t wait to see them again!

RECORD STORE DAY 2015

 photo Record Store Day.jpg

I spent Saturday/Record Store day hanging around Berwick street aka ”The golden mile of vinyl” for seven hours, interviewing people on the street and some of the bands performing, about buying records, why they do it, and the future of physical music. It will all be up on Spindle Magazine for those of you who's interested. After that, I treated myself to a well-deserved trip to the pub with friends, followed by some midnight pizza from Papa Johns.

Now, I’ll probably spend the next seven hours trying to figure out my sloppy handwriting and what on earth it is I’ve written. Today calls for alot of tea...
