Sound and Vision Awards
By Ella Stormark
3rd of March 2026It’s not often you get to see multiple generations of the bluest blood rock ‘n’ roll royalty perform together on stage, but that’s exactly what happened at last night’s “Sound and Vision Awards” at the Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs. Hosted by the charity “Adopt the Arts”, the event was a celebration of industry giants Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath, need I say more?) and Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company), as well as a crowd-funder and auction to gain funds for the charity’s main mission: Musical education and accessibility for children and youth; a celebration of past, present and potential future icons, all in one.
With a line up consisting of the above mentioned Geezer Butler and Paul Rodgers, as well as Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Trapeze, Black Country Communion), Corey Taylor (Slipknot) Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Matt Sorum (The Cult, Guns ‘N’ Roses), Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke), Mike Managan (The Cult), Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Phil X (Bon Jovi), Robert Deleo (Stone Temple Pilots) Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) and Stevie Salas (Mick Jagger) - phew! - the stage was nothing short of a star spangled extravaganza and amplification.
Now, you probably never imagined seeing Slipknot’s Corey Taylor belting our Bad Company’s sexy and sultry “Feel like makin’ love”, or Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes pairing up with the mighty Geezer Butler for some 1970 Sabbath and N.I.B - well, neither did I, but this is exactly what I got served and serenaded in the desert last night.
